The Knitting Project and It's Importance

The Helmet Hats for Soldiers have been developed to protect against Traumatic Brain Injury and provides warmth to the head. These are the reasons they are being knitted by American Men and Women and shipped to our soldiers, as they are not provided by the US Military.

In September 2008, 491 hats were sent to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in October 2008 an additional 100 hats were also sent...all by Kansas knitters.  Just recently in the summer of 2009 over 150 more hats were sent out by Kansas Soldier
through THE KNIT WITS knitting group that meet at ChiART Studio. Over 1,000 were sent in 2007.
